There are 4 courses offered in our Residential Construction Program, broken into Residential Construction and Cabinetry. This Program is designed to prepare students with the skills necessary for entry level employment in the building industry. These classes introduce and/or reinforces the following concepts: basic woodworking safety skills, basic math and measurement skills, an introduction to the use and care of hand and power tools in the construction and cabinetmaking industries. Students are taught basic blueprint reading and cabinet layout procedures; box construction, face-frame and drawer construction; and finishing techniques (sanding, staining, and protective coatings.) As students progress they are taught about footings, foundations, floor systems, and wall and roof framing are introduced. Advanced classes will be offered On-Site construction building experience as jobs are available. Career Technical college credit is available.
